Augmented reality And Virtual Reality

AUGMENTED REALITY

Wondering what a super important and haptic communication are? what a smart glasses and head mounted display? what is augmented Reality and Virtual Reality What's is mobile computing?

Let me help you to sort thing out. So you are heard something about  AR/VR if not  AR - Augmented Reality,VR - Virtual Reality.

For most people it is still an abstract and exotic technology, often perceived as the science fiction out of hollywood movies, animated holograms, interactive display virtual 3D models. Infact all these things things do already exist. Augmented Reality is one of the hottest trends in mobile app industry.Coming to the basic of Virtual Reality.

Virtual Reality is a software is a computing technology that involves  UR headsets and multi-projected environment.Sometimes,it is a combination with physical environment and prop,to generate a realistic images, sounds and other sensations that simulate the user's physical presence in virtual or imaginary environment .A person using VR equipment is able to "lock around" the artificial world and with high quality VR he can move around and xy interact with virtual features in it.This effect is commonly creared by VR headset consisting of head mounted displays with small screen in front of eye,but can also be created through specially designed rooms with multiple large screen.

A R is similar to VR. It is live direct or indirect view of a physical ,real-world environment whose element are "augmented" by computer generated or extracted real world sensory input such as sound, video, graphics, haptics or GPS data.

AR has come a long way from a science fiction concept to science based reality.Until recently the costs of AR were so substantial that designers could only dream of working on design for AR is now an option for all shapes and sizes of UX designers.

   Predictions from 2018 about AR.

"Augmented Reality/VR has matured and will increase it impact in 2018".- Todd car other,Execution Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
"The combination of Al and VR will optimize" Al will no doubt reinvent the software company in the coming decades,Paired with other new technologies like AR & VR ,AI-backed device and system will optimize automation and redefine traditional means of distribution information.
Many companies are aggressively investing in use cases to firm up adoption strategies,

           * Evaluate data privacy and cyber security
           * Restructure business process
           * Step up legacy modernization and incorporate cultural nuances of the org.

AR is enabled by advanced computer generated graphics, machines learning, high performance computing, data collection and analytics. AR is achieved through a variety of innovations by implementation of software - The majority development for AR will be developing further software to take the advantages of hardware capabilities. There is already a ARML which is being used to standardized XML grammar for UR.
There are several software development kit (SDK) which offer simple environment for AR development tool shift.
AR in 1960's lvan Sutherland and Bob Sproull created a first head mounted display then it is called the Sword of Damodes.

AR in 2000's Japanese Scientist Hirokazu Kato developed and published AR toolkit an open source SDK.

TYPES OF AR

There are 4 types Augmented Reality

  •  Markerless AR
  •  Marker based AR
  •  Project based AR
  •  Superposition based AR

Marker-less AR is also called location-based AR. It is one of the most widely used and implemented type of technology. Marker-less is also known as position based AR and GPS based Augmented Technology. Marker-Less AR is the only type of AR technology which does not use any kind of recognition system and hence it does not require augmentation. Another difference is, the location-based AR does not know about the object whereas recognition based AR apps do. To provide a second result, this technology uses various location tools and helps in recognizing location on your devices.

Superimposition Based AR It is indeed one of the most important types of technology where object recognition plays an important role. In this technology, the augmented image can replace the original image, either partially or fully. The technology is useful in the medical field. A doctor can thoroughly examine patient and gives a proper treatment.

Marker-Based AR is also called Image Recognition or Recognition based AR. In simple words, this technology uses the camera in AR device to produce a result. QR and 2D are the examples of the visual marker. The users get the result when camera reader senses the marker.

Projection-Based AR Evident to its name this technology is based on AR projection function, where lights from the device projected on the objects. There are numerous approaches which make this technology more interesting. One of the approaches is throwing the light onto the surface of the real world and makes it interactive by the human touch with the help of sensors. The projection can also be done in mid-air with the help of laser plasma technology. It helps in studying the structure and configurations of projected images.

    AR Today

  •  Mumbai T2 app

There’s something new in store for all the Mumbai travellers flying out from the GVK Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA). it launched India’s first ever indoor navigation app with augmented reality feature.
Once installed, the T2 app will assist the passengers with the interactive walk-through experience, including information on connecting flights through push notification system.

  •  Medical training

There are some incredibly exciting applications for augmented reality in healthcare from allowing medical students to train in AR environments to telemedicine options that enable medical professionals to interact with patients. In critical situations, augmented reality applications can deliver real-time information to the treatment area to support diagnosis, surgery and treatment plans. AccuVein is a handheld device that can scan the vein network of a patient that leads to a 45% reduction in escalations. Surgeons can plan procedures before making the first cut, models can be made of tumors, and AR diagnostic tools can model disease conditions. Deloitte Research asserts that AR will disrupt the business model and operations of healthcare.

  • Pokemon Go

Gradually the technology has gone through various changes and enhancements. The most recent example of AR technology is the game namely “Pokemon Go” which was released in July 2016 by Niantic, an American software development company. It has been in the news for numerous reasons (good and bad both). But it has definitely given new dimensions to AR-based games.

  • Retail Argument

One unexpected brand that has introduced AR to the in-store experience is Toys “R” Us. They worked with PlayFusion to create a “digital playground” through the Play Chaser app. The app isn’t geared towards the shoppers who convert — it’s targeted towards the end user: kids. With the app downloaded on a mobile device, children can unlock AR-enabled activities. The mascot Geoffrey even comes to life, bringing the brand back into the experience.
Apparel brands have also used AR mirrors to let customers try products on more conveniently. Timberland, for example, had a virtual fitting room created with Kinect technology. They turned this fitting room into one of the main window displays, which was a strategic move to drive more foot traffic.

  • Inception - The app

This app is a dream machine that transforms the world around you into a dreamworld. It uses augmented sound to induce dreams through the headset of your iPhone or iPod Touch. It will change your perception of reality.
Inception The App transports Inception The Movie right into your real life. New dreams can be unlocked in many ways, for example by walking, being in a quiet room, while traveling or when the sun shines. You will get realtime musical experiences, featuring new and exclusive music from the Inception soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer.

Most tech experts are considering AR to be the future of design. When it comes to augmented reality app development, it is obvious that AR is providing excellent opportunities to effectively augment user experiences even beyond measure. Everyone already knows the importance of mobile phones in the society today. These devices have risen to become such an integral part of people’s lives that they might as well become extensions of their bodies. Even without being intrusive, there is every possibility that technology can even be further integrated into human lives.

There is no gainsaying, the introduction and inclusion of AR will almost certainly bring about much more advances in the larger-than-life but little seen, Internet of Things. It’s high time UX designers begin to seriously take the questions of how to improve traditional experiences through AR especially through application development India. No doubts, there are lots of advantages to benefit through this.

As a major challenge of the twenty-first century UX profession, it’s not enough to enhance a device’s ability to use computer enhancements. It needs to do more to improve user activity and even affect the way they interact with their devices. When the quality of the output or task efficiency of an experience is improved for the user, there is no doubt that the future will belong to AR.

In conclusion, augmented reality (AR) has evolved from pipe dream (dreams of tech enthusiasts) to a substantial reality in just within a century. Until developers and UX designers begin to think about how AR can be integrated with daily life to improve the quality, efficiency, and productivity of experiences, then will we see the rapidity of the concept and its untoward effectiveness on a universal scale.
